158 sacks of govt rice seized from AL leader’s shop in Khagrachhari

Local administration seized 158 sacks of government rice from a shop belonging to an Awami League leader in Khagrachhari's Matiranga upazila early today.

The seized rice was supposed to be sold at Tk 10 per kg among the poor under the government food relief programme, our Bandarban correspondent reports quoting Bivishan Kanti Das, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Matiranga Upazila.

"Acting on a tip-off, we conducted a drive and seized some 158 sacks of rice from the shop of one Jamal Hossain, a ward member and a local AL leader," the UNO said.

 Nobody was arrested in this connection, he said.
