Stop spraying harmful disinfectants on human body: DGHS
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has asked the authorities concerned not to spray harmful disinfectants directly on human bodies.
The disease control unit of the health department came up with the directive in a letter sent to the civil surgeons across the country on April 16.
"Reports are being published in different national news media with pictures of spraying disinfectants directly on human bodies. According to various sources, bleaching powder solution is being used to make these disinfectants, which is extremely harmful to the eyes and mouths and other body parts," the letter states.
The letter also reads, "Spraying such disinfectants directly on human bodies are not regulated as per the guidelines of the World Health Organization. The Department of Health follows the World Health Organization guidelines."
Therefore, it has directed to take necessary measures to stop such activities, the health department said.
