Sample of an Italy returnee, who died at Dhaka's Kurmitola Hospital on Thursday, tested positive for coronavirus.

Before referred to Dhaka, however, he had taken treatment at Noakhali General Hospital, but had given false information about his symptoms, our Noakhali correspondent reports quoting Dr Fariduddin Chowdhury, assistant director of the hospital.

After getting the test result, seven people, including three doctors and two nurses of the hospital, have been sent to home quarantine, the doctor said.

The 45-year-old Italy returnee from Sonapur union of Sonaimuri upazila came to the Noakhali hospital on Wednesday, Dr Farid said.

He was admitted after complaining of chest pains, although the doctors suspected he was infected with Covid-19 after examining his chest X-ray, Dr Farid said.

The doctors referred him to Dhaka's Kurmitola Hospital, where he died on Thursday night, the assistant director said.

Kurmitola Hospital authority took his sample and arranged his burial in Dhaka according to the IEDCR rules, he added.

"We sent our staffers to home quarantine after getting the news, he said.

"The whole Sonapur union has been in lockdown since afternoon when we the got the report" said Tanmay Das, deputy commissioner of Noakhali.

The family members of the Italy returnee are quarantined at home, he added.
