First coronavirus case confirmed in Habiganj

A 35-year-old man tested positive for Covid-19 in Habiganj's Sadar upazila today, making him the first confirmed coronavirus case in the district.
The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) confirmed the matter this morning after conducting tests, Habiganj Civil Surgeon Dr AKM Mostafizur Rahman told The Daily Star.
Police traced him back soon after he returned to his village on Thursday from Narayanganj where he works at a private company, reports our Brahmanbaria correspondent.
They put him under the isolation unit of Habiganj Modern Sadar Hospital as he was suffering from coronavirus symptoms, said the civil surgeon.
His samples were later collected and sent to IEDCR for testing.
The district police traced back 17 people who returned to Habiganj from Narayanganj in the last 24 hours and put them under institutional quarantine at the isolation ward of Habiganj Modern Sadar Hospital.
