DU professor dies of Covid-19
A professor of Dhaka University (DU) died of Covid-19 last night.
The deceased, Prof Shakil Uddin Ahmed of Soil, Water and Environment department of the university, breathed his last at Dhaka's Green Life Hospital where he was undergoing plasma therapy.
DU Proctor Prof AKM Golam Rabbani confirmed the matter to The Daily Star.
"I learnt from the colleagues and his family members that he had cardiac complications. After testing Covid-19 positive he was admitted to the Green Life Hospital at Green Road in the capital," the DU proctor said.
"We are saddened by the death of Prof Shakil," Prof Rabbani added.
"Prof Shakil was undergoing treatment at Green Life Hospital for the last 10 days. Although his condition saw improvement for a while, it deteriorated later. He died around 9:30pm on Sunday," Prof Fahmidul Haq of DU's Journalism and Mass Communication department told The Daily Star quoting Prof Shakil's family sources.
Professor Shakil joined DU as a faculty member in 2002.
