A doctor working at the health desk at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka has tested positive for coronavirus.

He is currently undergoing treatment at home, Dr Nusrat, another doctor at the health desk at HSIA, told The Daily Star.

She also said four other doctors, six sanitary inspectors and nurses who worked with that doctor were also advised to stay in home quarantine.

Dr Nusrat said the infected doctor last worked at the HSIA on April 15, adding that he was involved in health screenings of 337 Bangladeshi nationals who returned from Saudi Arabia on a special flight that day.

On April 19, he developed Covid-19 symptoms. His test results came back positive for coronavirus on April 23, she added.

Of the 337 Bangladeshis who returned from Saudi Arabia, 309 were sent to Ashkona Hajj Camp for institutional quarantine while 28 were asked to stay in home quarantine for 14 days, doctors at the health desk at HSIA said.

Meanwhile, 138 Bangladeshi workers who were repatriated from Bahrain yesterday evening were allowed to go and asked to self-quarantine for 14 days, sources at the HSIA said.

The Bangladeshi workers were jailed in Bahrain and were freed recently by the Bahrain government under special amnesty.
