Covid-19 sample collection: IEDCR issues 4 directives to hospitals
The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) today issued four directives to hospital authorities over collecting samples from patients for Covid-19 tests.
A letter containing the directives -- singed by IEDCR Director Prof Meerjady Sabrina Flora -- has been sent to all civil surgeons and upazila health and family planning officers across the country.
The directives are:
--Collect sample from those who have at least one or two of the symptoms -- fever, cold, cough, sore throat and difficulties in breathing.
-- Include name, age, gender, detailed address, mobile number and symptoms with the "Covid-19 Suspected Case Record and Laboratory Test Request" form.
-- Samples should be collected, stored and sent to specific laboratories in a proper manner.
-- The tube containing the preserved sample must be labelled accurately and clearly.
