2 more Ctg police test positive for coronavirus

Two traffic constables under Chattogram Metropolitan Police tested positive for coronavirus yesterday.
Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) tested 109 samples yesterday and of those, six were found positive for Covid-19, Dr Hasan Shahriar Kabir, Chattogram divisional director of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), told The Daily Star this evening.
Of the six that tested positive, two were collected from policemen at Dampara Police Lines and two other from people in Anwara upazila.
The two other samples were collected from two deceased persons at Nimtola and Senbagh in Noakhali, Dr Shahriar said.
The two traffic constables testing positive for Covid-19 yesterday brings the number of police officials infected with the disease in the port city to three, said Deputy Commissioner Amir Zafar of Chattogram Police Headquarters.
The two constables of Traffic (north) Division were placed in isolation after another police official tested positive at the police lines earlier, DC Zafar said.
They were sent to Chattogram General Hospital for treatment, he added.
