2 emergency medicine consignments being sent to Bhutan
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is sending two consignments of emergency medicines to Bhutan for the safety of its senior citizens against the risks of Covid-19 infection.
She is sending the medicines from her Relief and Welfare Fund at the request of the Bhutanese King as a gesture of solidarity in view of historic relations with Bhutan, the first country to recognise Bangladesh as a sovereign nation, according to a foreign ministry statement.
The medicines include 10 lakh units of Multi-Vitamin Bextram Gold manufactured by Beximco Pharma and 5 lakh units of Vitamin-C Ceevit manufactured by Square Pharma, it said.
The first consignment was sent by road today via Burimari Border Port in Lalmonirhat. The second consignment is likely to reach the border port by April 19, the statement read.
Bangladesh earlier sent emergency medical equipment, including hand sanitisers, to Bhutan.
