12 new Covid-19 cases in Chattogram

Twelve new cases of coronavirus infection were reported in Chattogram today.

Of 118 samples tested at the Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) today, 12 were found to be Covid-19 positive, said Dr Hasan Shahriar Kabir, Chattogram division director of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the 12, one hailed from Chandpur while 11 are from Chattogram. Two, including the Chandpur one, are women, our Chattogram correspondent reports quoting Kabir.

Meanwhile, 209 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of infected has reached 1,012, according to the DGHS.

The death toll from the virus now stands at 46, with seven more coronavirus-infected patients dying in the last 24 hours.
