Rab didn’t complain against police: IGP
Rapid Action Battalion did not complain against the police force to the home ministry, Bangladesh's police chief AKM Shahidul Hoque said today.
His response was in reply to quizzings from the media about a report of The Daily Star that said of tensions between the two forces reaching at its peak.
The Daily Star published the report after obtaining a copy of the letter, addressed to the senior home secretary and written by Rab's Director General Benazir Ahmed.
"Rab's DG didn't complain to the home ministry," the inspector general of police said in a press briefing arranged for the launching of a new mobile application of the police.
BD POLICE HELP LINE APP LAUNCHED
The app BD Police Help Line has been made available from today for smartphone users on both android and apple operating platforms.
General people will be able to collect and give info, lodge allegations anonymously with the police through this app, IGP AKM Shahidul Hoque told journalists.
Police officials starting from the level of OC (officer-in-charge) will get instant notifications from this application.
"It has been designed to let every citizen to collaborate with Bangladesh Police by providing any information the citizens feel necessary to bring to the notice of Police," reads the description of the app on Google Play.
Police on July 31 launched a mobile application Hello CT to gather information from the public relating to militancy and extremism in the backdrop of recent terror attacks in Bangladesh.
