Rouf Talukder joins Bangladesh Bank as new governor
Abdur Rouf Talukder, a former senior finance secretary, today joined Bangladesh Bank as its governor, according to the central bank.
He replaced Fazle Kabir, whose six-year tenure ended earlier this month.
Talukder is the 12th governor of the central bank.
He holds an MSc degree in Development Management from the University of Birmingham and an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration of the University of Dhaka and is experienced in financial management.
Talukder started his professional career in 1988 as a member of the Bangladesh Civil Service. He served in various capacities in the government during more than 34 years of his career.
He was appointed as the finance secretary in 2018 and promoted to the post of senior secretary in 2020. Before being appointed as the finance secretary, he had worked for more than 18 years in various positions in the finance division.
Previously, he served the industries, food and information ministries, the central bank said on its website.
