‘Entrepreneurs should utilise Bida’s OSS’
Md Sirazul Islam, executive chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), today suggested the private sector entrepreneurs to utilise the One Stop Services (OSS) offered by the BIDA in order to reduce hassles in business.
He emphasised the need for going digital and said the use of the OSS will help in taking faster business decisions and making new investment in Bangladesh.
Islam, however, mentioned that most of the services taken from OSS were provided by the BIDA, not other agencies, according to a statement from the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI).
Islam was speaking at a dissemination seminar on the OSS of BIDA at MCCI's Gulshan office in Dhaka today.
Md Saiful Islam, MCCI president, said the trade and environmental related licences should have three to five years of validity in order to enhance the ease of doing business.
At present, the businessmen only have one-year licences available, which hampers the ease of doing business, he said.
He also proposed outsourcing the services of regulatory body inspectors to ensure better and faster inspections.
The OSS allowed the pertaining services to be completed remotely, including making the payments. Currently, OSS offers 58 services of 19 organisations and agencies, said the statement.
The BIDA introduced OSS in 2018 in order to provide essential services in connection with investment facilitation.
The MCCI President appreciated this initiative by BIDA to bring everything under one umbrella.
He believed BIDA will get the desired momentum and earn confidence of the local and foreign investors.
