Bangladesh gets $2.7bn pledge as Int’l Investment Summit wraps up
The two day-long International Investment Summit 2021 that came to an end today could attract USD 2.7 billion worth of investment from domestic and international companies in different sectors in Dhaka.
Of the amount, the Engineering Dimension, a Saudi industrial group, declared to invest USD 1.75 billion for making power generators and for setting up cement manufacturing plants.
Aygaz, a Turkish industrial group, announced USD 150 million to Bangladesh's United Group.
Karnaphuly Dry Dock announced to invest USD 118 million to construct a terminal in Chattogram port.
Barishal Electric Power Company announced an investment of USD 100 million for producing electricity.
While he was declaring the amount of investment at the ending session of the summit, Md Sirazul Islam, executive chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority said Guopo Renewable Energy Technology will invest USD 50 million.
Hangzhou JY Supply Chain announced an investment of USD 20 million and IT Hub Investments pledged to invest USD 15 million.
At the concluding session of the summit, which was organised by Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), investors from home and abroad were present.
