DBL Group to invest $650m in Sreehatta Economic Zone

DBL group is going to invest $650 million (Tk5500 crore) to establish 10 factories to manufacture textiles, ceramic and sanitary items at Sreehatta Economic Zone in Moulvibazar.

The group announced the decision at a ceremony at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka today.

Addressing the ceremony, MA Jabbar, managing director of DBL Group, said it will take three years to set up 10 industries at the industrial park on 167 acres of land where some 6,000 new employment will be created.

Jabbar said DBL will begin the construction works of a spinning mill this month. "The launch of DBL Industrial Park is an important step towards achieving our vision of pushing forth the next phase of Bangladesh's growth through world-class infrastructure."

The Industrial Park will be established over 167.6 acres in Shreehatta Economic Zone, Moulvibazar, Sylhet and will employ 5,630 people.
