“Oprakritik Prakriti” to stage in Dhaka
Habiganj-based theatre troupe Desh Natya Goshthi are bringing their latest production, "Oprakritik Prakriti" to the Dhaka stage later this week, after successful stagings in their locality.
The play is written by founder of movement theatre, thespian Dr. Mukid Chowdhury, and directed by Fakhrul Hamid. It premiered in January in Habiganj, and will be unveiled to the audience of the capital at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on April 27.
The play revolves around the life of a child-less woman, and the struggles of her life. About it, writer Dr. Mukid Chowdhury says "This play tells the story of Smriti, who goes to great lengths to bear a child, but when Nature turns away from her, all her efforts go in vain."
The narrative style of the play follows the traditional and Rabindra-Natya Dhara styles, according to the director.
The cast of the play include Haron Shai, Johny Rani Das, Prasenjit Debnath, Al Amin, Sharmin Akhter and others.
Mukid Chowdhury is known for his plays that explore stories of the Middle Ages, including "Ahokananda", "Ochin Dwiper Upakhyan", "Ekti Ashare Swapno", "Kornopuran" and more.
