JKKNIU students stage two plays in Rajshahi
The Theatre and Performance Studies Department of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU) in Mymensingh staged two plays in Rajshahi, as part of their Rajshahi tour, on March 10.
Upon invitation from Department of Theatre of Rajshahi University (RU), Masters students of Theatre and Performance Studies Department of JKKNIU staged musical drama "The Rebel Poet" at the RU campus. The play, based on Kazi Nazrul Islam's "Rajbondir Jobanbondi", accompanied by dances with popular songs of the bard, drew a huge audience at the venue.
As part of their tour, the group also staged "Shajahan" on the premises of Puthia Royal Palace in Rajshahi, following an invitation from Puthia Theatre.
The play, written by Dwijendra Lal Roy, was staged marking the 15th Lokonatya Utsab organised by Gram Bangla Theatre.
The plays were designed and directed by Mazharul Tokder, a teacher of JKKNIU's Theatre and Performance Studies Department. This was the second tour to Rajshahi of the students of the department and there was a warm reception from the audience.
