No new films were released in movie theatres across the country during Eid-Ul-Fitr and Eid-Ul-Azha last year. Film directors and producers are facing difficulties this year as well.
Movies that were planned for this Eid-Ul-Fitr will not be releasing. Producers are monitoring the current situation, as they do not want to risk releasing movies amidst the second wave of Covid-19. Instead, they are looking to Eid-Ul-Azha for bringing out new films.
Directors are worried as they made huge investments in these films. They want their movies to see the light of day. With the countrywide lockdown extended until May 16, movie theatres are also going through a difficult time. "Shaan", "Bidrohi", "Mission Extreme", "Beauty Circus" and "Jinn" among many other films, are awaiting release.
Narrating the thrilling and triumphant story of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)'s operations to defeat pirates of the Sundarbans, acclaimed director Dipankar Dipon's "Operation Sundarban" is set to release on Eid-Ul-Azha 2021.
Prominent director Raihan Rafi hopes to release his film "Poran" on Eid-Ul-Azha as well. He has also collaborated with Arifin Shuvoo for his upcoming film, "Noor". The poster of the film was unveiled on April 27.
With so many films still awaiting release, filmmakers and audiences will just have to wait.
