Remembering Bangabandhu through art

Celebrating the 100th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, an art camp, titled ‘Bangabandhu: Jibon Theke Chitropote’, was organised by the Bangladesh Shilkapala Academy (BSA) at the Zilla Shilpakala Academy Tungipara, Gopalganj, recently. Based on their works on themes from ‘Oshomapto Attojiboni’ and ‘Karagarer Rojnamcha’, 100 artists were selected for the camp.
Prior to the art camp, a boat journey was facilitated as a part of the camp’s activities on November 30. Following the tour, a cultural programme and an art exhibition was organised at the Sheikh Moni Smriti Milonyaton of Zilla Shilpakala Academy Tungipara.

The art camp featured a 100-foot canvas for all the artists to work on. Starting from 1971, till Bangabandhu’s death in 1975, the artists were free to choose any theme, related to the journey and success of Bangabandhu for their artwork. Legendary art maestros, including Mustafa Monwar, Samarjit Roy Choudhury and Hashem Khan, participated in the event, amongst many others.
