‘Jatiyo Nazrul Sammelan’ begins in Chapainawabganj
A three-day event, titled Jatiyo Nazrul Sammelan was inaugurated at the premises of Nawabganj Government College in Chapainawabganj town, recently. Nazrul Institute and Ministry for Cultural Affairs jointly organised the programme with the help of the local district administration.
The day began with a colourful rally which began from the Deputy Commissioner’s office and ended at the premises of Nawabganj Government College.
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by AZM Nurul Haque, Deputy Commissioner (DC). ProfDrMohammad Fayek Uzzaman, Vice Chancellor of Khulna University, was present at the occasion as chief guest, and Prof Shankar Kumar Kundu, Prinicipal of Nawabganj Government College and Prof Monwara Khatun, Principal of Nawabganj Government Women College, were in attendance as special guests, among others.
Prof Sultana Razia, former principal of Nawabganj Government College and Dr Toshikul Islam Raza, former principal of Shah Mokhdum College in Rajshahi, along with Additional Deputy Commissioner Tazkiruzzaman also spoke at the programme.
Following the inauguration, a discussion session, with Prof Dr Asit Roy of Department of Music of Rajshahi University as the keynote speaker, on Nazruler Ganey Sadhinata was also organised. “Nazrul teaches us to stand upright with dignity, overcoming odds and evil, exploring themes such as freedom, humanity, love, and revolution in his writings,” he said. “He opposed all forms of bigotry and fundamentalism.”
The day concluded with a cultural programme.
