7 Bangladeshis shine bright in Aerial Photo Awards 2020
Seven photographers from Bangladesh have won awards in various categories of Aerial Photography Awards 2020, an international competition organised in France.
They are Md Ali Asraf Bhuiyan, Touhid Parvez Biplob, Abdul Momin, Azim Khan Rony, Md Tanveer Hasan Rohan, Pinu Rahman and Sujan Adhikari. An accumulative 15 aerial images have won awards in this competition.
The results of this year's competition were out on October 15, according to Ali Asraf, one of the winners in the contest.
The competition was supposed to display the winning photos during the Paris Photo Festival. However, it was cancelled this year due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Later, the exhibition was held online.
The purpose of this event is to introduce talented aerial photographers from different parts of the world including France.
Thousands of images of different photographers from 65 countries across the world were submitted to the contest. Among them, 15 photos taken by seven Bangladeshi photographers have been awarded in various categories. The aerial image of Belgian photographer Sebastien Nagy was selected as the best photo in the completion.
Of the Bangladeshi awardees, Azim Khan's 'Largest Congregation' was the runner-up in the Abstract category. Azim, a TV journalist by profession, has won a total of five awards in this year's competition.
Travel photographer Rohan's image 'Fishing at Jamuna River' also won an award in the Abstract category. The picture titled 'Plastic Mat,' taken by Ali Asraf, won an award in the honourable category. He is also a police official by profession.
Earlier, the seven Bangladeshi photographers won several national and international awards like Biplob won BPS National Photography Award, Wildlife and Nature Imagination Award and International Salon Reflections Serbia 2018 Award, while Ali Asraf won the UMBRA International Photography Awards for his photography.
