Musical Premier League launched

A fresh approach to reality TV

Channel i yesterday announced the launch of a new musical reality show -- 7Up Musical Premier League (MPL) --at a press conference held at its premises. The three judges who will be part of this show are renowned names of Bangladeshi music fraternity, Shakila Zafar, Bappa Mazumder and Partha Barua.

On behalf of Transcom Beverages Limited, Gollam Quddus Chowdhury, MD and CEO, Khurshid Irfan Chowdhury, deputy managing director and Arif Hossain, marketing manager were present at the event. Also present were Morshed Alam, executive director, Asiatic Mindshare Bangladesh; Iresh Zaker, executive director, Asiatic 360 and Faridur Reza Sagar, managing director, Channel i.

“Although we have seen a lot of musical contests and talent hunt programmes in the past, 7Up MPL would be a reality show with a difference and a refreshingly new programme design, " said Iresh Zaker.  He further added, “The wide acceptance and popularity of the Cricket Premier League format and programme design shaped the concept of MPL.”

7Up MPL would be open for participation to people from all across Bangladesh. There would be eight divisional teams with eight renowned musicians as the team leaders. The team leaders would get to form their respective divisional teams through regional auditions, selecting three promising singers from each division. The eight divisional team leaders will be popular singers Sabbir, Mahadi, Sandipan, Pervez, Sajjad, Nishita Barua, Dithi Anwar, Putul and Konal. The main event for 7Up MPL will take place in Dhaka and will go on air in Channel i from July 14, The  show will be telecast every Thursday and Saturday at 7.50pm.
