Arnob's new album “Ondho Shohor” released

When Arnob broke out in the country's music scene with 2005's “Chaina Bhabish”, he was a revelation and a half. The eclectic musical arrangements, coupled with soulful, sometimes psychedelic lyrics and his silky smooth voice. It paved the way for him to become one of the top musicians of his generations, be it with solo album “Hok Kolorob” or collaborative projects like Prayer Hall or Arnob & Friends Live. His next albums – “Doob”, “Roud Bolechhe Hobe”, and Rabindra Sangeet album “Adheko Ghume” reflected his journey as a musician, as Arnob continued to do music for films, jingles and more. His last full album was a limited-release box set titled “Khoob Doob” in 2015, as a fundraising effort for a school in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

And now, his fans can rejoice as a brand new album of the singer-composer just dropped, on the smartphone-based music streaming service Yonder Music (by telecom operators Robi and Airtel). The album, “Ondho Shohor”, features 17 tracks, and seems to be his most varied yet. Arnob shared on Facebook that the album has songs dating back from 2003, (the third track from the album, “Keu Ki Jane”) and even songs in English.

The album opens with “Ei Shohor Amar”, the soundtrack from last year's blockbuster “Aynabaji”, and includes new tracks such as the title track “Ondho Shohor”, “Chader Hashi” “E Poth O Poth”, “Chatok Pakhi”, “Ei Achi Ei Nai”; Rabindra Sangeet “Amare Tumi Oshesh”; English titles “Rain Dance”, “Calling God”, “Say Your Prayers” and “Slow Dark Killer”; previously-heard tracks like Rabindra Sangeet “Tomaye Gaan Shonabo” from the soundtrack of film “Under Construction” for which he collaborated with former wife and longtime musical ally Sahana Bajpaie and “Tui Bolle” which was released from India in 2015, and an electro instrumental of “Hok Kolorob”, a throwback to the hit from his second album.

In an era where album releases have somewhat lost its charm and digital single releases seem to be a more common practice among musicians, Arnob still commands a fair bit of attention when he releases new music. There is no word yet of the album's physical release, but die-hard Arnob fans will surely not wait on it, and dive right into the album wherever they can access it from.
