While Mehazabien rose to prominence as the winner of the popular beauty pageant show Lux-Channel i Superstar, the former model is now a successful actor of the small screen. The glamorous artiste has been a household name for around eight years, and in a recent conversation with The Daily Star, she describes some of her career highlights, and more.

It has been eight years since you embarked on your showbiz career. How does it feel?

Mehazabien: It is hard to believe how time has flown by so fast, but looking back I am very fulfilled with what I have accomplished. People know my name now, and that is a great achievement.

What projects do you have for this year?

Mehazabien: I have recently finished filming for a few single-episode plays. “Ichche Khaam” will be released on Valentine's Day. Another play, directed by Shihab Shaheen, will be aired on the same day. The title has not been fixed yet, but I had to travel to Feni by train for filming, which was a great experience. I am also appearing in a play directed by Mabrur Rashid Bannah.

You have not yet appeared in any long-running drama series. Is there a particular reason for that?

Mehazabien: I prefer doing single-episode plays and tele-films because it allows me to give proper focus to my characters. Drama series go on for a long time, and I am not prepared to make that commitment yet.

You played a starring role in the highly-popular tele-film “Boro Chhele”. Has there been a change in your career since its success?

Mehazabien: I don't really feel a particular difference, but I am even more selective about roles now. The play did raise the bar a bit, and I would like to see myself involved in plays with similar, or more potential.

Do you receive offers to appear in films?

Mehazabien: I do receive a lot of offers, and I have never said I won't do films. Once I receive a script with a plot and character that appeals to me, I will definitely take up the offer.

After eight years, how do you remember your first venture?

Mehazabien: How could I ever forget? My first play was “Tumi Thako Shindu Parey”, where Mahfuz Ahmed was my co-star. Filming took place in February 2008, and Iftekhar Ahmed Fahmi was our director. I was fresh out of Lux Superstar, and I remember feeling very apprehensive.
