Commemorating the death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) has organised multiple programmes under the title, ‘Shilper Aaloy Bangabandhu’ that is taking place throughout this month of mourning. To initiate the series of events, BSA officials placed floral wreaths at the tombstone of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 1.
As part of the aforementioned initiative, BSA, in association with Bangladesh Ethnic Artist Forum, is hosting a group art exhibition titled, Paharer Bornil Sangskriti, at Gallery 2 of the National Art Gallery of BSA, which concludes today.
International Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister, Dr Gowher Rizvi, graced the inauguration ceremony of the exhibition as the chief guest on August 5, while Director General of BSA, Liaquat Ali Lucky, presided over the event. Member of Parliament of the Rangamati constituency Dipankar Talukdar, and Cultural Affairs Ministry Secretary Dr Md Abu Hena Mostofa Kamal, were in attendance as special guests. Bangladesh Ethnic Artist Forum’s Adviser, renowned artist Kanak Chanpa Chakma delivered the welcome address during the event.
A number of artworks shedding light on the vibrant cultures, lifestyles and cuisines of various indigenous communities together with the graceful landscapes of Chittagong Hill Tracts are on display at the show. Besides, 70 artists of Bangladesh Ethnic Artist Forum, led by artist Kanak Chanpa Chakma are holding a four-day (August 14-17) art camp in Rangamati. The forum, together with Abinta Gallery of Fine Arts, is organising the art camp.
Moreover, a reading and discussion session, on a book written on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was organised at the seminar room of the National Theatre Hall of BSA. Minister of Information Dr Hasan Mahmud was the chief guest of the session, which was also presided over by Liaquat Ali Lucky. Bangabandhu’s Birth Centenary Celebration National Implementation Committee’s President and Chief Coordinator, Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, inaugurated the event.
