Arifin Shuvo 2017's Action Hero
Last year undoubtedly belonged to Arifin Shuvo, the swaggering, mustachioed hero of “Dhaka Attack” that won the hearts of millions with its tense, action packed scenes and an emotionally gripping storyline. The edge-of-your-seat thriller opened the floodgates to more offers for the actor, who now has to choose his next role wisely.
“Everyone is still talking about 'Dhaka Attack', and are full of praise regarding my work on screen,” stated the actor of the film, which ran in theatres for four weeks-- a feat that has not been achieved by a film in a long time.
Two weeks after its release, Shuvo traveled around Europe along with director Dipankar Dipon, lead actress Mahiya Mahi and a few others to experience the film along with fellow overseas migrants. “It would make any actor proud to see that their work has transcended so many borders,” said Arifin Shuvo of the event.
While still basking in the glory of “Dhaka Attack”, the actor wrapped up filming for the Alamgir helmed “Ekti Cinema'r Golpo.” The highly anticipated film casts Indian actor Rituparna as the female lead, and Shuvo has high expectations regarding its release. “It's a big achievement to be granted the chance to work alongside Alamgir, who is a great director. I believe that people will flock to the theatres to watch the film,” he said.
Arifin Shuvo's rapid rise to stardom is especially impressive considering the relatively short span of his career. The actor first gained mainstream attention with the film “Jaago” despite his television debut a couple of years before in a tele-film. He also appeared in Mustafa Sarwar Farooki's “Waiting Room”, after which he began modeling.
Among his admirers are fellow colleagues in the showbiz industry, who unanimously reached the consensus that Shuvo is indeed, the most striking actor of 2017. But a humble Shuvo remains unfazed by the adulation saying “I love my work, and I always try to put in my best effort. The judgment is entirely up to the audience.”
The actor opened last year with the film “Premi O Premi”, which was followed by “Dhat Teri Ki”, both of which included Nusraat Faria as his co-star. Shuvo subsequently teamed up with Tisha in the film “Niyoti”, his second last venture before “Dhaka Attack.” This year looks forward to more of Arifin Shuvo, namely in the films “Bhaijaan”, where he is joined by Tisha once more, “Ekti Cinema'r Golpo” and “Bhalo Theko.”
