Ashraf Shishi’r film “Gariwala”, has travelled to 48 cities in 18 countries so far. The film has travelled to festivals in the USA, UK, Canada, UAE, Greece, Portugal, Russia, Combodia, India, Pakistan, Italy, Chili, Venezuela, Kosovo, Kenya and Mexico.
Moreover, the film has bagged eight international awards at different festivals.
Recently, the film was screened at Fifth Slum Film Festival in Kenya. The fest was held in Nairobi from August 25-29. It was a rare achievement for a Bangladeshi film to be screened in Africa.
The plot of the film revolves around two orphaned brothers and their mother. The struggle of the family and how they cope up with poverty is at the heart of “Gariwala”.
