Bangladesh tour of India, Only Test

Watch Mushfiqur Rahim’s close shave against India

Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim had a close shave when he survived a run-out chance during the third day of the Test match against India at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad today.

During the 50th over of Bangladesh’s innings, Mushfiqur found his heart in his mouth when he had to put in the dive to beat the throw from Ravindra Jadeja. Despite the dive, Mushfiqur’s bat thudded into the ground and jumped up in the air. The bat made contact with the ground on the side of its edge, as a result it popped up when the wicketkeeper broke the stumps.

After several replays of the incident, the evidence on screen was rather inconclusive, and the TV umpire Chris Gaffaney gave Mushfiqur the benefit of doubt, and the diminutive cricketer lived to fight another day!
