Fakhrul camp up with the remark while addressing a programme at Dhaka Reporters Unity auditorium in Dhaka.

He claimed that the reports mentioned senior journalist Shafik Rehman and Amar Desh acting editor were not involved with the “conspiracy” of abduction of Bangladesh prime minister’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.

The arrest proves that the government is suffering from nervousness, he claimed.

The government earlier ran repressive activities to the BNP but now it started to torture the senior journalists like The Daily Star Editor Mahfuz Anam who faces several cases, Fakhrul added.

Shafik Rehman is currently on a five-day remand in a case filed over an alleged plot to kidnap and kill Joy. Plainclothes detectives on Saturday detained the pro-BNP intellectual.
