Water has started to drain from several roads in Sylhet city this morning (June 20, 2022) after being submerged for nearly two days. However, Sylhet Uposhohor, on the banks of Surma river, is still flooded.

Many areas, including Mazar Road and Airport Road, were flooded until yesterday afternoon (June 19, 2022), according to Ramzan Ali, an auto-rickshaw driver. Then the water level began to drop, he said.

However, the water level in the Ambarkhana neighbourhood of Sylhet city, where Ramzan Ali lives with his family in a rented house, did not rise, he said.

The city dwellers are house-bound, so Ramzan Ali hasn't taken his three wheeler out in three days. However, movement of people has increased this morning.

Various city streets, shops, including restaurants, have started to open. In the rain, the vegetable market was also visible.

It rained heavily from dawn to 6am today. As a result, people arriving from all over the country, including Dhaka, were stranded in the rain at the city's Humayun Rashid Square.

The rainfall has decreased after 7am.
