Hasnat’s father dies

Rezaul Karim, father of Hasnat Karim who was held hostage inside Holey Artisan Bakery during Dhaka attack, has passed away.

He died around 3:30am early today while undergoing treatments at a city hospital. He was 76.

He was suffering from kidney related diseases for long, Sharmin Karim, wife of Hasnat Karim, told Bangla Daily Prothom Alo.

The body was kept in hospital’s mortuary, she said, adding that no decision was taken about his burial.

On July 1, Dhaka witnessed one of the worst terror attacks in its history as gunmen attacked Holey Artisan Bakery, an upscale eatery on Road 79 of Gulshan killing 22 people including two police officers after a 12-hour long hostage situation.
