SP Babul Akter relieved of services

Superintendent of Police Babul Akter has been relieved of his services in response to his resignation plea.

“Our honorable president has taken the decision in response to a prayer of Babul Akter,” Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal told The Daily Star.

Home ministry today issued a gazette notification in this regard to be made effective immediately.

On June 5, three assailants stabbed and shot dead Mahmuda Khanam Mitu, wife of Superintendent of Police Babul Akter, when she was taking her son to his school bus stop at GEC intersection in Chittagong.

There has been a whisper of Babul Akter's involvement in the murder.
