US-Bangla plane crash: Bodies of rest 3 Bangladeshi victims arrive in Dhaka

The bodies of the rest three Bangladeshis, who died in the US-Bangla plane crash in Nepal's Kathmandu, arrived in Dhaka this afternoon.

A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying the bodies reached at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around 4:50pm, reports our staff correspondent from the spot.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister AKM Shahjahan Kamal handed over the bodies to the respective families at the airport, the correspondent said.

Later, while talking to reporters, the minister urged the authorities concerned to improve their skills so that incidents like the US-Bangla aircraft crash is not repeated.

The identities of the three remaining Bangladeshi victims were confirmed on Tuesday.

The victims are: Nazrul Islam, 62, of Rajshahi, Mollah Alifuzzaman, 30, of Khulna and Pias Roy, 23, of Barisal, according to a top official of US-Bangla Airlines.

The namaj-e-janaza of Alifuzzaman will be held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the capital this evening while the relatives of Nazrul and Pias will take those to their village home.

The flight, which was scheduled to reach Dhaka airport at 3:00pm today, was delayed due to bad weather in Kathmandu of Nepal, Md Salim, station manager of Biman Bangladesh Airlines in Kathmandu, told The Daily Star.

The crash of US-Bangla flight BS211 at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on March 12 killed 51 people, 26 of them were Bangladeshis.

On Monday, bodies of 23 victims were brought back to Bangladesh.

On that day, the nation paid tribute to the victims of the tragic crash that claimed 26 Bangladeshi lives, destroying and devastating families.

At least 20 people survived the crash, 10 of them are Bangladeshis.
