Blogger Rajib’s father disappointed at HC verdict

Ahmed Rajib Haider’s father Dr Md Nazimuddin expressed disappointment over the High Court judgment saying that he did not get justice.

“This is an influenced and split verdict,” Nazimuddin told journalists while expressing his reaction over the HC verdict this morning.

The HC today upheld the trial court verdict that sentenced two people to death and six others to different jail terms for killing blogger Rajib Haider killing.

“The eight accused of the case are self proclaimed and proved terrorists, but all of them did not get capital punishment,” he said.

He also said that the present government tells “zero tolerance” about terrorism, but he (Nazimuddin) did not get any reflection of the government’s stand in the trial of this case.

“There are militants, militant dens at different places in the country and people are suffering from insecurity, but the militants who have killed my son have been released,” he said.

Replying to a question, he said he will decide after consulting his lawyers whether he will move an appeal to the Appellate Division of the SC to enhance the punishment of the six accused who have given imprisonment in different periods.
