Kalabagan Krira Chakra captain Mashrafe Mortaza turned back the years to his younger, hay days with a brilliant bowling performance to restrict Legends of Rupganj to only 191 inside 50 overs at Khan Shaheb Ali Stadium, Fatullah today.

Mashrafe recorded his best bowling figures in the ongoing DPL with six wickets for 42 runs in 10 overs. He polished off the Legends of Rupganj tail to give his side a good chance to win their fourth match in DPL 2016. Dewan Sabbir took three wickets to hurt Rupganj.

Legends of Rupganj were invited to bat first and were in dire straits by the half-way mark of their innings. From 5-87 after 27 overs, Sajjadul Haque lifted his side with his second highest score in DPL 2016. He made 48 from 55 with four fours and two sixes.

Victoria Sporting Club posted 247 in 49.4 overs against Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club after their captain Nadif Chowdhury won the toss and opted to bat first at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur today.

Stiff resistance from Victoria’s middle order allowed them to reach a challenging total, to which Mominul Haque contributed with 50 while three batters made 30s. Mominul would be glad to be among the runs again after three low scores on the trot.

For Sheikh Jamal, their captain took three wickets for 40 in nine overs to stall Victoria. It was Mahmudullah’s second three-for in DPL 2016. Abdur Rahman and Muktar Ali picked up two wickets each.

Incisive bowling from Iftekhar Sajjad and Tushar Imran of Brothers Union helped their team skittle Gazi Group Cricketers out for only 167 inside 36 overs at BKSP No.3 ground. Iftekhar and Tushar shared seven wickets between them.

Gazi captain Alok Kapali won the toss and decided to bat first. His decision seemed to pay dividends as his side were sitting pretty at 70 for no loss in 14 overs. By the 21st over, Gazi had lost half their side and Brothers Union bowlers were relentless in their approach. Anamul Haque’s 46 in 52 with three fours and four sixes was the highest knock in Gazi’s paltry total.

Tushar Imran took four wickets for 27 in four overs. Iftekhar Sajjad picked up three for 33 runs in eight. Asif Hasan and Nabil Samad chipped in with a wicket each to peg back their opponent at Savar.
