BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed today said that his party will accept people’s verdict in the just ended Narayanganj City Corporation elections if any incident of vote rigging and other anomalies does not take place before the announcement of result.

“We will accept reflection of people’s verdict if nothing takes place behind the scene,” Rizvi said while addressing a post-polls press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka this afternoon.

Strongly criticising Shamim Osman for casting his vote in favour of Awami League mayoral candidate Selina Hayat Ivy publicly, Rizvi said this is nothing but tantamount to show muscle power.

“This is not legal and is beyond the jurisdiction of the electoral code of conduct,” he also said.
