Although Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association introduced e-ticketing system for buses of 30 companies on Mirpur route from today, all the buses are yet to start the process due to a lack of POS ticketing machines.

While visiting the Farmgate area between 9:30 to 10:00am, our correspondent talked with the staffers of seven buses that ply the Mirpur-Jatrabari or Mirpur-Sadarghat routes.

Five of them claimed that they could not go for the system as they are yet to receive the POS ticketing machines.

Three staffers of Shikar Paribahan said they have heard that a meeting was held in this regard and they will get the devices soon.

Rahman Mia, a passenger who travelled to Farmgate from Mirpur 10, said he did not get any e-ticket. "I had to pay the money to the bus conductor directly," he added.

Habib, a driver of Mirpur-bound bus of United Paribahan, said his staffers have already received the machine. "I have to say, it has made our work easier. But many passengers were asking us about the machine, how does it work," he added.

They are using the machine to give tickets to passengers once they have seated and not before getting on the bus, he said.
