Over 150 sued for shooting of Jubo League leader in Pirojpur

More than 150 people have been sued in a case filed for the shooting of a Jubo League leader during a clash that broke out between supporters of two rival chairman candidates in the upcoming union parishad election at the Shankarpara union in Sadar upazila of Pirojpur on Sunday.

Mozammel Hossain Mallik, younger brother of Awami League-backed chairman candidate Md Tofazzal Hossain Mallik, filed the case naming 36 and 120-130 unnamed people at the Pirojpur Sadar Police Station yesterday evening, reports our Pirojpur correspondent quoting Abu Zafar Md Masuduzzaman, officer-in-charge of the police station.

The injured, Foysal Mahbub Shuvo (32), general secretary of Pirojpur municipality unit Jubo League, is now receiving treatment at Khulna Medical College Hospital with bullet injuries on his left shoulder.

Police have already detained nine people including the independent chairman candidate Md Nasir Uddin Matabbar over the incident, said the OC, adding that a pistol and a bullet were recovered at the time.

Police are trying to arrest the other accused in the case, added the OC.
