“Case filed today, perpetrator freed the next day; that’s our country”

Farhana Yasmin, mother of slain Buet student Fardin Noor Parash, has expressed concern over a fair trial in the murder case.

While talking to reporters in front of Delpara Central Graveyard in Narayanganj Sadar upazila this evening, Farhana Yasmin said, "We raise our children with enormous efforts and sacrifices, and then suddenly they are gone. The government doesn't see this. Today a case will be filed, and the next day they [the perpetrators] will go scot-free, this is what's happening in the country. Hence, another boy loses his life. Else, no one would have dared to raise their hands on any Buet student after Abrar's [Abrar Fahad] death."

"My talented son went to study in Buet and returned as a dead body. Can you fulfil my demands? My son has been missing for three days? You couldn't find him," our Narayanganj correspondent quoted her as saying.

"Another student died in Buet, but what have you done? You'll just write another report. You don't have anything else to do," Farhana said, pointing at reporters.

Police recovered the body of Fardin Noor Parash (24), a third-year student of Civil Engineering department of Buet, from Shitalakkhya River in Narayanganj yesterday (November 7, 2022).

Doctors of Narayanganj General Hospital confirmed today that he was murdered and had injury marks in his head and different parts of his body, including in his chest. They said Fardin was murdered three days ago and was physically tortured before his death.
