Woman dead as DSCC garbage truck hits her in Mugda

A woman died after a garbage truck of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) hit her at Mugda in Dhaka last night.

The deceased was identified as Nazma Begum (45).

Jamal Uddin Mir, officer-in-charge of Mugda Police Station, said the waste-collecting vehicle hit the woman in TT Para area when she was crossing the road around 10:00pm.

With critical injures, she was rushed to Mugda Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead, the OC said.

Police seized the vehicle and detained its driver Sohel Rana after the accident.

The body of Nazma was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital Morgue for autopsy.

Talking to reports at the DMCH, Najma's daughter Purnima Akhter said her mother used to live at their village home in Shibchar upazila of Madaripur.

"Three days ago, she came to Dhaka after a quarrel with my father. We did not know her whereabouts… Last night, police informed that she met an accident," Purnima said.
