More human remains, including skull and bones, were recovered from under the debris at Chattogram's BM Depot today (July 6, 2022), raising the death toll 51, police say.

"Parts of human skull and bones were found when staff of the depot were cleaning the area of warehouse shed around 10:15am," Ashraful Karim, additional superintendent (Sitakunda Circle) of Chattogram police, told our Chattogram staff correspondent.

On information, a police team rushed to the spot and they are collecting the remains. The remains will be sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue.

With this, the death toll from the incident now stands at 51, the police official said.

A fire broke out at BM Container Depot in Chattogram on June 4.

Investigators said the container depot had stored at least 27 containers full of hydrogen peroxide which led to deadly blasts.

Eight officials of the fire-ravaged BM Container Depot were sued by police for negligence but left out the owners of the depot.
