Sri Lanka’s passport ranks higher than Bangladesh’s as per Henley Index
Bangladeshi passport dropped 11 spots in 10 years
Bangladesh's passport climbed four spots compared to last year in the latest edition of the Henley Passport Index, the pioneer ranking of world's travel documents.
Out of a total 112 spots on the index, Bangladesh now ranks 104th, according to the "Henley Passport Index: Q3 2022 Global Ranking" released recently. Last year, Bangladesh's passport ranked 108th.
Ten years ago, Bangladesh's passport ranked 93rd.
In South Asia, the Indian passport now ranks 87th with its holders allowed visa-free travel (or with visa-on-arrival) to 60 countries.
Economically devasted Sri Lanka and Lebanon, meanwhile, ranked one spot ahead of Bangladesh -- at 103rd -- on the passport index. Citizens of the countries can travel visa-free (or with visa-on-arrival) to 42 destinations.
Bangladeshi passport allows visa-free travel to 41 destinations, according to the latest Henley Index.
War-torn Libya shared the same spot with Bangladesh.
North Korea, Nepal, Palestinian Territory, Somalia, Yemen, Pakistan, Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan are placed below Bangladesh on the Passport Index.
