Indo-Bangla pipeline: 90 lakh litre diesel imported on first day

Around 90 lakh litre of diesel was imported via the India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline the very same day the prime ministers of both the countries opened it.

Tipu Sultan, project director of the pipeline, confirmed the matter to our Dinajpur correspondent in the evening.

Earlier in the afternoon, Narendra Modi and Sheikh Hasina virtually inaugurated the fuel pipeline.

Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) released around 90 lakh litre of fuel and the terminal in Parbatipur upazila of Dinajpur received the diesel after the project was inaugurated, he said.

Earlier, around 75 lakh litre was released from NRL on a trial basis.

Dinajpur-5 lawmaker Mostafizar Rahman, Khalid Ahmed, director (planning and operation) of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC), Anupam Barua, director (distribution) of BPC, RM Khanjir, NRL country manager, and Khalid Mohammad Zaki, Dinajpur deputy commissioner, and Shah Iftekhar Ahmed, Dinajpur superintendent of police, were present at the physical ceremony.
