Fuel prices cut by Tk 5 per litre

The government has decided to cut fuel prices by Tk 5 per litre, which will be effective from 01:00 am tomorrow (August 30, 2022).

State Minister for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid confirmed the decision to The Daily Star today (August 29, 2022).

He said, the notification will be announced soon.

According to the new price, diesel and kerosene will be sold at Tk 109, petrol will be sold at Tk 125 and the octane  at Tk 130 at the refuelling stations.

The decision comes a day after the government cut import duty to 22.75 percent from 34 percent.

Earlier, the government had increased prices of fuel on August 6.

The retail prices of diesel and kerosene were set at Tk 114 per litre. Octane per litre was Tk 135 and petrol at Tk 130, according to the Energy Division.

Prices of diesel and kerosene was Tk 80 per litre until then, which was Tk 65 in October.
