Shahidul Haque Khan no more

Noted filmmaker, lyricist, journalist and playwright, Shahidul Haque Khan breathed his last on Wednesday (April 19) at 11 pm, at his own residence. The National Film Award winner was 74 at the time of his passing.

According to media reports, the director was suffering from cancer.

Shahidul Haque made his debut as a director in 1973 with the film, "Chhutir Phande" based on Samaresh Basu's novel. The director also won the National Film Award for best lyrics with this film.

He was also the director of 1994's "Kothay Sejon", which aired on BTV and marked his debut a tele-fiction director.
