‘Rickshaw Girl’ finally gets theatrical release

Amitabh Reza Chowdhury's critically acclaimed film "Rickshaw Girl" has received numerous awards and praises at various international film festivals. Bangladeshi audiences want to watch the movie in theatres, and the director is planning on releasing the movie in January 2023.

Amitabh Reza told the media that they are currently waiting for the censor certificate.

"Currently, everything depends on the censor certificate right now. As soon as we can get the permission, we will be able to declare the official release date of the movie," said the director.

The "Aynabaji" director has been showcasing the English version of the film at film festivals. However, he has plans on releasing the movie in Bangla to cater to Bangladeshi audiences.

Recently, "Rickshaw Girl" was released on OTT platforms including Apple TV, Amazon, Hoopla, Kanopy, and Vudu.

The film received rave reviews on international platforms including the Prescott Film Festival in the United States and the SCHLiNGEL International Film Festival in Germany. Producers of the movie include Ziauddin Adil, Faridur Reza Sagor, and Eric J. Adams. The movie is a joint production between Bangladesh and the US.
