Kangana Ranaut has claimed that she is scared of Karan Johar's enthusiasm for her next film "Emergency." She accused the filmmaker of launching a smear campaign against her in 2019, prior to the release of "Manikarnika."

At a recent event, Karan Johar discussed Kangana Ranaut's next film "Emergency". Karan was asked about a political event that he would like to see portrayed in a film during the Express Adda session for The Indian Express. "'Emergency' is being made and I am excited to watch it," said the director.

When a netizen asked Kangana about Karan Johar's latest statement. The actress responded "Last time he said he was excited to see 'Manikarnika', the worst smear campaign of my life was unleashed on me on its release weekend."

"Almost all main actors working in the film were paid to sling mud on me and sabotage the film, and suddenly the most successful weekend of my life turned into a living nightmare for me. Ha ha, now I'm terrified, really scared... because he's eager again," continued the actor.

Kangana Ranaut was accused by director Krish of stealing his film, "Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi" (2019). Krish was cut from the film, and Kangana stated that she reshot substantial chunks of it, for which she received a co-director credit. Krish had disputed Kangana's claim that she had shot 70% of the film in a 2019 interview with SpotboyE.

Furthermore, in a 2019 interview, "Manikarnika" actor Mishti Chakravarty attacked Kangana Ranaut, saying that her role had been trimmed short and that if she had known Kangana was directing the film, she would not have done it.

Kangana Ranuat and Karan Johar's public feud has made headlines for many years. In interviews and on social media, the two have criticised one other. It all started when Kangana attacked Karan on "Koffee With Karan" (KWK) season 5 for nepotism.

Kangana, who is known for her frank views, termed the KWK host a 'flag bearer of nepotism'. Her statements stunned Karan, and what followed was a barrage of comments and reactions from them and other celebrities concerning nepotism in the film industry.
