On December 29, Mahiya Mahi bought the nomination form from Awami League, for the position of Member of Parliament (MP) in the Chapainawabganj-2 constituency. However, the actress has now failed to get a nomination from Awami League.

The decision was taken at the ruling party's nomination board meeting on Sunday (January 1) evening.

Mahiya Mahi posted a video on Facebook, confirming the fact that she did not get the nomination.

"I believe the decision our honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken is for the good of the party. Even if I don't get the nomination, I will work for Awami League," said the actress.

Instead of Mahi, Ziaur Rahman was nominated for the Chapainawabganj-2 constituency. Mahi was full of praise for Ziaur Rahman during her Facebook video.

"Ziaur Rahman is surely the best for the party. I will work in the field for him and for Awami League. I will work towards the goal of winning at least 50,000 votes for the party in that constituency," added Mahi.

The popular actress concluded the video by saying, "To all of those who wanted to be a candidate for this seat, but did not receive a nomination, let us unite in the election of February 1 and make sure Awami League wins in Chapainawabganj-2. Let's give our Prime Minister the best gift we can."
