Aamir Khan collaborates with ex-wife in 'Laapataa Ladies'

Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao, are collaborating once again for the upcoming Jio Studios project titled "Laapataa Ladies". Scheduled for release on January 5, 2024, this film marks Kiran Rao's return to the director's chair after more than a decade. Her last directorial work was the 2010 film "Dhobi Ghat". 

Produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions, "Laapataa Ladies" features an ensemble cast including Nitanshi Goel, Sparsh Shrivastava, Chhaya Kadam, Pratibha Ranta, and Ravi Kishan. The film has been adapted from an award-winning story by Biplab Goswami, while the screenplay and dialogues has been handled by Sneha Desai.

Adding to the excitement, "Laapataa Ladies" is set to have its grand premiere at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 8.

Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao announced their separation in July 2021, after 15 years of marriage. In a joint statement, they expressed their intention to continue their journey as co-parents and collaborators on various projects, emphasising their gratitude for the support of family and friends during their transition. 

The couple had met on the set of "Lagaan", where Aamir was the lead actor, and Kiran served as an assistant director. Their professional collaborations extended to films like "Dhobi Ghat", "Delhi Belly" and "Dangal".
