‘Rise High Bangladesh’ at CUET

On the second day of its campus activation programmes, the export idea contest 'Rise High Bangladesh' reached Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) on August 18, 2016.

The day long event was held near the cafeteria. The programme area was nicely decorated with banners and posters containing information of the contest. Despite regular classes and examinations, a great number of students approached the booths set up on the campus premise before and after their class. The Rise High volunteers explained to them the objectives, incentives and rules of participation.

The puzzle solving contest attracted a large crowd of students. They were required to pick a clue card with information on a country's imported goods, and they had to guess the country. Successful participants were given prizes.

One of the successful participant, Mehedi Hasan from the Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) department said, "I really enjoyed the game. I look forward to forming a team and will definitely try to contribute an idea. It might be on clay works".

The programme also generated interest among the university teachers. Appreciating the ‘Rise High Bangladesh’ campaign, Head of the Computer Science and Engineering Department of CUET, Professor Dr. M. Moshiul Hoque said, "Our export items represent our country to the world. We have a rich heritage of craft and clay works. If we can plan innovatively, our products will certainly attract a good audience in the foreign market." He also suggested the use of information technology to connect local products with the world market.

Vice-Chancellor of CUET, Professor Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam, also welcomed this venture. He said, "We should tap our young minds for ingenious ideas. I believe this kind of initiatives inspire students to contribute more positively to the nation."
